PRESS RELEASE

Halbleib of EPIC Named a 2010 Power Broker

San Mateo, Calif. (March 1, 2010) –EPIC (Edgewood Partners Insurance Center), a retail property, casualty and employee benefits insurance brokerage announced today that James C. Halbleib has been chosen by Risk and Insurance magazine as a 2010 property & casualty insurance “Power Broker.”

To qualify for Power Broker recognition, nominees must be considered a top performer in a particular industry practice sector. The three principal criteria for evaluating candidates are creative risk problem solving, industry practice expertise and client service. Halbleib was one of only 144 people nationwide to be selected from the thousands of nominations Risk & Insurance received this year.

As noted in Halbleib’s Power Broker profile, “most risk managers find themselves serviced by a property broker, a casualty broker and a management lines broker. James Halbleib can do it all, and successfully, according to his clients.”

“Jim's wide ranging expertise, deep knowledge of our business and genuine concern for his clients, combines to quickly exceed the expectations of most risk managers,” stated EPIC co-founder, Dan Francis. “He is a real pro – a ‘broker’s broker’ – and a friend!”

One such client, Renee Crow, senior director of risk management for the San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Group, noted that Halbleib and his team's work on behalf of her company started well before the appointment during the intense nine-month RFP process.

"Jim took the time to know us at a very deep level and offered assistance to help resolve a critical issue having a significant financial impact on our organization," stated Crow.

For the past two years Halbleib has served as an executive vice president and principal in EPIC’s Global Risk Management Practice. Previous to his position with EPIC, Halbleib spent 14 years with Arthur J. Gallagher and Company, most recently as an executive vice president.

Halbleib holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the Millersville University. He also attended the Hartford Graduate School finance program designed for insurance executives.

There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction.
